Raptor Ridge Solar Field Clean Energy

Client Tucson Electric Power
Completion Date 2022
Location Arizona
Completed by MYR Energy Services, Inc. and Sturgeon Electric Company, Inc.

MYR Energy worked with crews from Sturgeon Electric, a fellow MYR Group, Inc. subsidiary, to build Uni-Source Energy Services’ (UNS) and Tucson Electric Power’s (TEP) Raptor Ridge, a 100-acre facility that will provide 15 megawatts of photovoltaic (PV) solar generation capacity when it is completed in May 2022.

The project marks the first time the two affiliated companies have teamed together.

MYR Energy’s team of 22 people performed the mechanical scope of work, including surveying, driving the piles, and building the facility’s fully automated tracker. Sturgeon Electric’s 65-person crew installed the 35,500 PV modules controlled by the tracker system, five inverter skids, and all underground components, including the cabling for the DC and communication systems.

Raptor Ridge will help UNS and TEP advance its transition from carbon-intensive sources to a more sustainable energy portfolio, while maintaining reliability and ensuring rate affordability for its customers.
