Completion Date 2024
Location Frederick County, Virginia
Completed by MYR Energy Services, Inc.

MYR Energy Services, Inc. (MYRE), in partnership with D.E. Shaw Renewables, engaged in the construction of the Bartonsville Solar project, a substantial 130-megawatt solar facility spanning 950 acres in Frederick County, Va. The facility is located in the Conococheague-Opequon and Shenandoah watersheds. D.E. Shaw Renewables strategically chose Nevados all-terrain trackers for their grading reduction benefits. Meanwhile, MYRE, as the construction team, adhered to permitting guidelines and environmental best practices, ensuring consistent land preservation during construction, especially in areas designated as jurisdictional waters and wetlands. The project encompasses six separate homerun circuits, featuring a total of 41 power blocks and associated power conversion stations. The site has 315,000 solar panels with 4,100 rows of tracker.

Thanks to this innovative new technology and a proactive approach to protecting the integrity of the natural landscape, stormwater runoff, and vegetation, MYRE was awarded the 2024 Governor’s Environmental Excellence Award for the Bartonsville Solar project.
