Limestone to Gibbons Creek Transmission Line

Client Cross Texas Transmission, LLC (CTT)
Completion Date April 2018
Location Texas
Completed by MYR Energy Services, Inc. and The L.E. Myers Co.

MYR Energy and L.E. Myers Co., a fellow MYR Group subsidiary, teamed together to construct Cross Texas Transmission, LLC’s Limestone to Gibbons Creek 345kV Transmission Line in southeast Texas.

The project connected two major substations – Limestone and Gibbons Creek – with 68 miles of 345kV double-circuit transmission line, installed with 1926.9 kcmil Type 13 ACSS/TW Cumberland conductor, AFL DNO-7161 optical ground wire, 7#8 aluminum-clad steel shield wire, and 1,400 self-supporting tubular steel structures.

Limestone to Gibbons Creek is part of the Houston Region Import Project, a 130-mile, 345-kilovolt double line from the Limestone substation in the Electrical Reliability Council of Texas’ (ERCOT) north zone to the Gibbons Creek Substation in Grimes County, and then to the Zenith Substation northwest of Houston. The initiative was designed to address reliability concerns in the Houston region by increasing capacity.

L.E. Myers provided construction management, material procurement, and construction services, including right-of-way (ROW) clearing, environmental controls, foundation installation, structure assembly and erection, and conductor stringing.
